Dr Stephanie Kalanj-Mizzi

Psychologist, BSc, PG Dip Psych, MPsych/PhD

With over 20 years of experience working in the mental health and welfare industry on the Gold Coast, Stephanie is a skilled Psychologist who has dedicated her career to supporting individuals and families in need. She has worked extensively in non-profit (NFP) and non-government (NGO) organisations as well as in the mental and allied health sector, where she lead a diverse, multidisciplinary team. As a member of complex needs assessment panels for both adults and children, she has worked closely with a vast array of professional services across the Gold Coast. This extensive experience led her to establish her own Psychology Clinic,  upon completing her Master’s and PhD programs at Monash University. 

Stephanie is strongly committed to providing a safe, relaxing therapeutic space to enable clients to feel supported and make positive and lasting changes in their lives. She specialises in providing therapeutic support to individuals, couples and families. She also has extensive experience working with neurodiverse clients and can assist in the assessing and diagnosing of disorders.

Stephanie understands that a strong client/therapist alliance is essential to successful counselling outcomes. This is achieved by ensuring clients feel valued and are treated with respect and compassion. At SKM Psychology, clients are not judged for their choices, decisions or beliefs. Stephanie uses evidence-based psychological, counselling and family therapy models to promote positive outcomes and make a genuine difference in her client's lives.

Stephanie works from a client-centred, whole of person approach.  This ensures that the unique needs of the client are fully considered and that therapy is tailored to the individual person.  Interventions are drawn from an array of therapeutic models including:  Person-Centred Therapy, Positive Psychology, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Humanistic Therapy and Behavioural Therapy.

Stephanie has been a proud Gold Coast resident since the 1980’s where she has balanced her professional journey with a fulfilling personal life, nurturing a successful marriage of over 33 years and together raising their three wonderful adult children.

Johnathan Subhash

Registered Psychologist (Provisional)

BSc (Hons), BPsych (Hons), MPsych (Prof)

Johnathan is a compassionate and client-centred Provisional Psychologist who provides evidence-based therapy to support individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, and other life challenges.

He holds a Master of Psychology (Professional) from Southern Cross University, a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) from Charles Sturt University, and a Bachelor of Bioscience (Honours) from La Trobe University. Johnathan is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and is completing the final stage of his pathway toward full registration.

With specialised training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, Johnathan helps clients process and resolve distressing memories, rebuild emotional balance, and move forward with confidence. EMDR is a highly effective, research-supported approach for trauma recovery and emotional regulation.

In addition to EMDR, Johnathan integrates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), person-centred counselling, and mindfulness-based interventions to tailor each session to the client’s unique goals and circumstances. He works with adults and children aged seven and above, providing support for:

  • Trauma and post-traumatic stress (PTSD)

  • Anxiety, panic, and depression

  • Grief, loss, and adjustment challenges

  • Phobias and self-esteem issues

  • Emotional regulation and anger management

  • Parenting and child behaviour support

Johnathan is deeply committed to creating a safe, respectful, and collaborative therapeutic environment where clients feel genuinely heard and supported. He believes that healing and growth occur through trust, compassion, and empowering clients to connect with their own strengths.

Appointments are available in person, via phone, or online (Zoom) for greater flexibility and accessibility.

Johnathan currently works on Wednesdays at the SKM Psychology Clinic.

Mali Robinson

Business Coordinator and Customer Relations

Mali is our Business Coordinator here at SKM Psychology.

She is currently studying a Bachelor of Psychological Sciences at Griffith University, and graduated from High School in 2022 with a Diploma in Business. Mali has a broad understanding of mental health and great empathy for those managing their own struggles. In keeping with the philosophy of SKM Psychology, she is committed to providing a safe and comfortable environment where our clients feel understood and heard. 

Mali works part time at SKM Psychology on Monday, Wednesday and Friday each week.
